1. Vertigo

The film Vertigo is one of the key texts on the course. Try and watch it and make notes on the following questions:

What do you think are the main themes of the film?

Which elements of camerawork, editing, sound and mise en scene (props, settings, décor etc.) did you particularly notice and what meanings do you think are being generated through their use?

2. Review writing

Write a 500-word review on a film of your choice. The target audience for the review should be other Film Studies students. You are trying to persuade your audience to watch your chosen film. Use images from the film within your review.

Please bring your completed work to your first Film Studies lesson in September.
