Progress and Support Tutors

Progress and support tutors

Joining Hills will feel exciting – and possibly a little daunting. That’s why your tutor will be ready to welcome you from day one and will be your go-to person throughout your time at the College.

Your dedicated tutor

Your tutor will meet with you regularly, either in your tutor group or on a one-to-one basis, and they will be key to supporting you with your sixth-form experience and your onward plans. Your tutor will also be on hand to make sure that you are receiving the right level of help and guidance for your needs so that you can make the very best of your time at the College.

Tutors offer support for both the personal and academic development of their tutees. They not only provide academic advice but also act as a bridge to a wide array of support services, both within the College and externally, ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to thrive. They are instrumental in delivering core curriculum elements like the Future Ready programme, the Extended Project Qualification and Enrichment activities, all of which are designed to enhance our students' educational experience and to build their skill set further.

My tutor has been an amazing source of support and guidance, I don’t know where I’d be without them!

Making a successful transition

Our Future Ready programme, at the beginning of Year 12, is designed to help you quickly settle in to how the College works and what it means to be an independent learner.

This will include:

  • Choosing your Enrichment options
  • What independent learning means and how to make it work best for you
  • Managing change and looking after your wellbeing
  • How to become a socially aware member of the College and its wider community
  • How to make online learning work for you

Throughout your two years at Hills, your tutor will support you every step of the way.
