Culture Fest is an annual celebration of the broad spectrum of cultural heritage within the Hills Road student body.

The 2025 edition of Hills Road’s annual Culture Fest, held on 14-18 July, highlighted the rich diversity of the college community through a wide range of student-led activities and events.

Many students chose to showcase their culture through proudly wearing traditional clothing, while an impressive array of flags could be spotted on campus… from Algeria to Australia, China to Ghana, to name just a few!

A world map [shown below] invited students to place a dot on the country of their heritage, with the final result reinforcing what an incredible range of cultural backgrounds we have here at Hills.

The Quad was brought to life with society stalls, and student performances including vibrant dances and acoustic performances (plus a singalong of ‘Sweet Caroline’!).  A glimpse of the performances can be found at the bottom of this article.

Meanwhile, societies such as Islamic Society and East Asian Society offered passers-by the chance to taste popular regional dishes and learn more about the cultures being celebrated.

Students also enjoyed the chance to sample different world cuisines each day at the Café, with Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Greek, and Middle Eastern offerings on the menu.

The Student Council did a truly impressive job of organising this year’s edition of Culture Fest: everything from coordinating performances, setting up events, and producing a behind-the-scenes video vlog, which can be viewed on their Instagram page: @hillsroadcouncil.

Well done to everyone who took part in Culture Fest 2025 – here’s to another wonderful year of celebrating cultural heritage, diversity and inclusivity.

"A huge thank you to all the incredible performers for sharing your talents and energy, and to the Student Council for organising such a vibrant and well-run Culture Fest. It was a fantastic celebration of our community’s diversity and creativity."
