Hills Road Sixth Form College is proud to have been awarded the prestigious Quality in Careers Standard in recognition of its high-quality Careers education, information, advice and guidance (known as CEIAG).

This nationally recognised accreditation, valid until March 2027, was awarded by Career Mark, a licensed awarding body, following a rigorous external assessment. It affirms that Hills Road’s careers provision meets all required benchmarks and reflects best practice in preparing students for their futures.

The college’s Future Ready programme, delivered weekly across both years of sixth form, forms the core of its careers support offering. The bespoke programme is structured around the Career Development Institute’s (CDI) Framework, and equips students with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their options after their time at Hills Road.

The assessment highlighted the positive impact of the programme on student confidence, employability skills, and career readiness. Students were found to be well-informed about their options and appreciative of the guidance provided.

During the assessment, one Year 13 at the College explained: “My careers adviser helped me explore new options when I changed direction and gave me the confidence to apply for a degree apprenticeship at Airbus — which I secured!”

John Ambrose, Lead Director at Career Mark, praised the achievement in the award confirmation letter, remarking that the assessment report provides strong evidence of a programme that is not only effective but also highly valued by learners: "I know how much work is involved in achieving Career Mark, and it is a credit to [Hills Road Sixth Form College and its staff] to have reached the high standards required."

The report also recognises Hills Road’s commitment to continuous improvement, highlighting a broad and inclusive offer of post-18 options including university, apprenticeships, gap years, and employment, and effective use of alumni and employer engagement to inspire and inform students.

Bekki Clark, Head of Careers, commented: “This award reflects our ongoing commitment to providing excellent careers support. We’re so proud of the team and our students for this achievement.”
