French Improvers

This course is suitable for those who have already studied French for at least a year, or for those who know basic French.


Instruction is given in French, using visual and audio supports. The course aims to develop the skills of speaking, reading, listening and writing in French. It enables students to understand native French speakers and helps them communicate in practical situations.


The main course book is "Voici", published by Hodder Education, chapters 1-4.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will have been given the opportunity to improve both your accuracy and your fluency in French. In particular you will be able to:


  • Describe appearance and personality
  • Talk about daily routine
  • Describe your leisure activities
  • Express preferences
  • Talk about holidays in the past
  • Practise applying for a job in France


You will also have covered the following main grammar points:


  • Use and position of adjectives
  • Demonstrative adjectives and pronouns
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Adverbs of frequency and duration
  • Formation and use of adverbs
  • The past perfect tense with avoir and être
  • Object pronouns
  • How to ask questions in the past

Daniela Flipo Daniela Flipo is a Qualified Teacher (QTS) of French. She has taught foreign languages to adults in various centres and she has a patient and friendly approach to teaching. Her aim is to ensure that your French lessons are informative, well structured and fun.
