Painting with Oils & Acrylics

Painting with Oils & Acrylics

The course is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those with some experience.

The objective of the course is for students to gain confidence with paint and to be able to find their own artistic voice through painting exercises, techniques, experimentation.

Beginning to paint can seem intimidating, this course aims to equip you with the knowledge and enthusiasm to set you on your way.

You will be using acrylics and oil paints to explore techniques deployed by other artists and to produce paint sketches and/or finished paintings.

Learning Outcomes

  • To gain confidence in use of colour, tone, mark marking and composition
  • To find different ways of working that will suit your personal approach, eg abstract or figurative, expressionistic or controlled
  • To think about what subjects, artists and ideas inspire you

Please note: It is not possible for students to change booked sessions around in the event of non-attendence or arriving late to class. This imposes other students' enjoyment in the class and it stretches the tutor further than necessary, impacting on the quality and structure of the teaching.

If we start to allow students to alternate the days in which they attend the course it becomes very difficult to keep track of. Please only come to the lessons you are booked on to. As the course is packed full of vital information, we would encourage students to attend all lessons to get the best out of the course.
