This course is designed for students who have no previous knowledge of Spanish.
The aim of the course is to develop your ability to understand and respond to spoken Spanish. The language learnt will be that used in authentic situations, such as in restaurants and hotels. Although the emphasis of the course is on conversation, you will also learn basic grammar, so that you can begin to manipulate the language. You will be able to write short paragraphs related to the topics learnt. Understanding of Spanish and Latin American culture and customs is encouraged throughout.
This course feeds into Beginners Level 2 and Beginners Level 3 in subsequent terms.
The course follows the topics covered in the book Pasos 1. However, the tutor will use his own materials and extracts from several resources, so there is no need to buy Pasos 1.
