Portuguese Beginners Level 2

This course will suit beginners who have studied Portuguese for about one term.

 

The focus of the course is on conversation and you will learn basic grammar so that you can begin to manipulate the language.

 

The course will help you to communicate effectively in authentic situations, to ask for information in various contexts and to talk about yourself, your occupation and your family. It will give you the ability to recognise simple spoken and written Portuguese and the opportunity to discover the cultural aspects of Brazil and Portugal.

 

Learning Outcomes

  By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to explore and practise the following topic areas and aspects of grammar:

  •  Discussing daily routines
  • On the phone (verb ir - to go, vir - to come, pedir - to ask, trazer - to bring, gostaria - would like)
  • Asking for and giving directions (verb ficar - to stay, pôr - to put, sair - to go out, dizer - to say, dar - to give)
  • Using numbers up to 100
  • Shopping (comparatives and superlatives)
  • In a restaurant (past simple verb estar - to be and past simple of verbs in -er
  • Work and school
  • Sports and leisure

Debora Koch Pereira Debora Koch Pereira is a native Portuguese speaker from Brazil. She holds a degree in both Portuguese and English and is currently pursuing an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL. She has taught ESL to non-native speakers since 2006, mainly directed at the adult crowd.
