This is a practical course where students will consider key features of creative writing – plot, dialogue and so on – but always with reference to writing for children. It will be a combination of writing opportunities, discussion and teacher-led information.
It is designed for those who have already attended a day course on writing for children (an overview), or for those who have some understanding of market demands.
This course includes a half hour lunch break. Lunch is not provided by the college but there is a cafe and shops near by. Students are also welcome to bring a packed lunch if they would prefer.
Jen Morgan has been a teacher for 18 years (having done both her degree and teacher training at Cambridge University) and has taught creative writing to adults for the last 8 years in and around Cambridgeshire. She has previously worked as Creative Reading Specialist with the Writers’ Centre Norwich and received full Arts Council funding to complete her novel for children with the Gold Dust scheme.
