Painting for Beginners

Painting for Beginners

This is a painting course for all. No artistic training is required. You will learn how to connect with and develop your own style and become comfortable and confident using art materials. Everybody has the capacity to enjoy working with paint and other media and this course will connect you with the sense of fulfilment you can access in a relaxed and supportive environment, from engaging with your own art process.

You will learn how to start thinking about and embarking upon your painting and enjoy playing with ideas, colours and shapes whilst developing your process. We will also focus on learning techniques and how to look for subject matter may inspire you and what image you want to produce.

You will become familiar with using different types of paint, inks, pastels, collage and also various drawing materials and how to mix the two.

Over the course you will connect with your inner artist and become confident using paint and other materials as well as gain a good insight into how to develop your creative process going forward.

Learning Outcomes

Confidence to experiment with a range of painting and drawing materials to enable students to pursue their own aims.

Increased practical knowledge in using traditional drawing and painting techniques as well as how to lay out an image design.

Ability to feel confident and connected with one’s individual painting style and aims.

Please note: It is not possible for students to change booked sessions around in the event of non-attendence or arriving late to class. This imposes other students' enjoyment in the class and it stretches the tutor further than necessary, impacting on the quality and structure of the teaching.

If we start to allow students to alternate the days in which they attend the course it becomes very difficult to keep track of. Please only come to the lessons you are booked on to. As the course is packed full of vital information, we would encourage students to attend all lessons to get the best out of the course.
