This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who have some previous experience of yoga and would like to deepen their practice.brStudents will be introduced to classic yoga poses (asana) which combine flexibility with strength, balance and stability. Modifications and progressions will be offered throughout the class to ensure each student is practising at a level they are comfortable with (a short medical and lifestyle questionnaire is given prior to the first class). The atmosphere in class is very much inclusive and non-competitive allowing students the opportunity to practise mindfully, developing body awareness and challenging themselves accordingly.brOnce students are comfortable with the shapes and alignment of these poses we will begin to link them together into short flowing sequences (vinyasa) focussing on moving with the breath.brThe focus on breath awareness is integral to yoga and will be a key component of each class. Students will be introduced to different pranayama and breath awareness techniques which focus on calming and centring the brain and body. Each session will end with an opportunity for meditation and a period of relaxation.brMats are provided but feel free to bring your own if you have one. Please dress in comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. It is recommended that you do not eat heavily in the two hours before class. You may wish to bring a bottle of water with you and a warm layer or blanket for the relaxation.br
has practiced yoga for over ten years in a variety of styles and settings. Throughout her career, yoga has been the thread that keeps me grounded and in shape, whether it is through balancing work and family life or supplementing other fitness pursuits. She believes regular yoga practice helps to calm and make life’s challenges easier. As a yoga teacher, it is her goal to share this gift with others, so they may enjoy these benefits as well.
