The Right Rev. and the Rt. Hon. the Lord Williams of Oystermouth, Rowan Williams came along to the College on 16th January, where he addressed the question: ‘What are schools for?’ to students and staff.
One member of staff said "I found the talk truly inspirational, with many interesting and complex ideas expressed so wonderfully clearly. I felt, when listening to both Lord Williams and the students very interesting questions, that I and they had entered into a truly joyous conversation about the nature and purpose of education.
Dr Williams is the former Archbishop of Canterbury (2002-12), has been Master of Magdalene College, University of Cambridge since 2012 and joined the House of Lords as a Life Peer in January 2013. He is a Welsh Anglican bishop, theologian and poet who spent much of his earlier career as an academic at the universities of Cambridge and Oxford.
