Hills Alumna, Ellie Dixon has song featured on Logic Pro 11

Ellie Dixon, a Hills Road Alumna and now famous singer, songwriter, and producer has recently had her song “Swing” featured as an in-app demo for users to experiment with.

Congratulations Ellie, this is a huge achievement!

On May 13, Apple released Logic Pro 11 for macOS, a powerful piece of software that provides creative tools for professional songwriters and beat makers. It includes a massive collection of instruments, effects, loops, and samples that enable anyone to create music, even when they’re on the go.

Ellie Dixon, a Hills Road Alumna and now famous singer, songwriter, and producer has recently had her song “Swing” featured as an in-app demo for users to experiment with.

While at Hills Road, Ellie studied French, Maths, Physics, and an EPQ, where she practiced sound recording. She was also a very committed member of the Jazz Choir! Ellie went on to study Mathematics at the University of Warwick, before she went on to be a recorded artist.

This is an incredible achievement that cannot be understated! Previous artists who have had samples included in Logic Pro have included Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, The Killers, Lily Allen and Foster The People.

On the social platform X, Ellie got on camera to thank Apple and explain why her song's inclusion meant so much to her.

She excitedly said, “Set the scene, fifteen-year-old Ellie, she's just started to learn to produce music on Logic Pro. If you told her that in 10-years' time her song would be in the software she would not believe you and I barely believe me now!”

Ellie went on to say that she hopes the inclusion of her song helps to encourage “aspiring producers that don’t feel like they look like or fit the demographic of what a stereotypical producer is. Please know that if you want to produce music you freaking can and anyone can. I made this song in my bedroom and now it’s in the software.”

Well done Ellie for all your success! We can’t wait to see what you do next and to listen to more of your incredible music.

Ellie Dixon’s achievement of having her song “Swing!” featured as a demo project in Apple's Logic Pro is truly commendable. As an ex-Music Technology student at Hills Road Sixth Form College, she’s made an impressive leap from the classroom to professional recognition. And for current Music Technology students, Ellie’s success serves as an inspiring example of what’s possible in the industry.
