Well done to the 78 Hills students who have received offers to study at Oxbridge this year! And congratulations to all of our students who have received some great offers for their next steps. We are tremendously proud of you and all the hard work you have put in to receive an offer from your first choice destination

Ben Lione: Music at the University of Cambridge

Ben has received an offer to study Music at Cambridge. He attended Comberton Village College before coming to Hills Road to study A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Music.

Ben started playing music when he was six, and he plays the piano and cello. He is a member of the College’s symphony orchestra, jazz orchestra and Folk Roots group. He also sings in the college choir and chamber choir.

After my degree, I’d really like to be a composer, but I’m not completely sure yet!

Ben

Jack Lione: Natural Science at the University of Cambridge

Ben’s twin brother Jack received an offer to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge. Like Ben, he also went to Comberton Village College before coming to Hills Road to study A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Music.

Jack started playing the piano when he was six years old, and he also plays the saxophone and is a member of the wind orchestra and college choir.

I decided to apply for natural sciences at Cambridge as you have a lot of choice as to which modules you want to take, with options like cell biology, evolution and behaviour, chemistry, maths and earth sciences

Jack

I have always enjoyed learning about the world around us, and my interest started with climate change and conservation of endangered species. During my studies at school and college, my interests have broadened to other areas of biology such as learning more about disease and the biochemistry of vital processes in the body.

Angela Ede: French and Linguistics at the University of Oxford

Angela has received an offer to study French and Linguistics at Balliol College, Oxford. Angela attended St Bede’s School before coming to Hills Road to study A level English Literature, French and Music. She has also been offered a prestigious organ scholarship!

I chose French and Linguistics at Oxford because I really enjoy studying languages, particularly French, which I take as an A level. I wanted to learn more about language itself and how and why languages develop through the study of linguistics.

Angela

When I’m at Oxford, I’ll also be one of the organ scholars at Balliol College. I’ll be playing the organ and conducting the choir for rehearsals and one evensong a week, alongside the senior organ scholar who is already there
