Drawing the Basics

This course is for complete beginners or those who wish to develop their observational drawing skills, the course takes an in-depth look at basic drawing techniques. Each session will concentrate on a particular aspect of drawing and include discussion and analysis of the work of relevant artists. Students will have the opportunity to explore various drawing media and surfaces.

Learning Outcomes

This course will give you the opportunity to gain:

 

  • Skills and confidence in observational drawing.
  • Broader knowledge and development of skills in a variety of drawing media.
  • Understanding of drawing as an art form through the study of individual artists.

 

 

Your Tutor

Elen Delafouge Jones Elen Delafouge Jones has been working in art education in Luxembourg for the past 9 years. She studied Fine Art Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University before pursuing a career in education. She has continued to practice as an artist alongside her teaching and believes that both aspects inspire and enrich one another. Elen recently moved to Cambridge where she is studying for a Masters in Illustration and Book Arts at Anglia Ruskin University.
