Greek (Modern) Improvers

This course is suitable for those who have already studied Modern Greek for three terms. You will cover topics such as making and answering a phone call, writing an informal letter, the weather, the seasons and the months, transactions at the post office and the bank, ordering a meze selection at a taverna.  You will also study the past tense and the imperative.br brLessons will be taught from "Communicate in Greek" by K and F Arvanitakis Vol 1 (ISBN 978-960-7914-38-5), chapters 19-24.

  • The use of the simple subjunctive
  • The simple past
  • Personal pronouns (weak and strong form)
  • Interrogative pronouns
  • Comparative and superlative degree of adjectives
  • Conditional speech – type 1
  • The Imperative

 

Your Tutor

Lucy Drew Lucy Drew is a Greek native speaker and a graduate of the University of Athens. She is a fully qualified teacher, with a PGCE from the University of Cambridge, and has over 25 years’ experience in teaching Modern Greek to a variety of age groups, primarily adults, at several levels, from absolute beginners to GCSE and AS level. Lucy is very enthusiastic about her subject and is always keen to help her learners to acquire the skills they need in order to communicate effectively in Modern Greek. She also enjoys sharing her love of Greek culture with her students.
