Life Drawing

Life Drawing

This course welcomes students of all abilities. It will be structured accordingly for both beginners looking to learn the basic skills of drawing, and for experienced artists wishing to develop their skills further.

Key concepts of life drawing will be covered, including how to draw correct proportions and perspective, and using different methods of mark making. Each session will feature a demonstration of how to apply a key concept, followed by participants practising the concepts by drawing the models in short and long poses.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will have learnt how to look more effectively: be more analytical, questioning what your brain knows and what you are actually seeing. You will have learnt the fundamental skills of how to observe the proportions, perspective, tones and complex structure of the human form, and translate these observations to create artistic drawings. You will learn how to accomplish different styles using different techniques and media. Drawing a living, breathing person is difficult but once you have mastered it, you will find drawing anything else a doddle!
