Hills has been awarded The Rainbow Flag

We are delighted to announce that after a year of assessment, the College has been awarded The Rainbow Flag Award, which recognises positive LGBT+ inclusion and visibility.

Rainbow Flag Award

This is a massive achievement!

Achieving The Rainbow Flag Award demonstrates the College’s commitment to improving the lives of all the LGBT+ young people that study at Hills, as well as our wider LGBT+ College community.

Through a process of self-assessment and ongoing monitoring and feedback, the College was able to show how it meets the standards in each of the following areas: curriculum, skilled teachers, pastoral support, effective policies, supportive governors and parents, and student voice.

It seems almost every department has made a conscious effort to incorporate relevant language as well as individuals in their work, and this can be seen in the students' work. It’s lovely to see that even your library staff have celebrated Pride too.

The Kite Trust

Receiving this award means a great deal to the College. Our aim is to always be inclusive and to celebrate what makes our diverse College so special. We are extremely proud that we have been able to demonstrate how we continually achieve a positive and inclusive experience for our LGBT+ community and that this work has been recognised by being awarded The Rainbow Flag
