The Illustration Summer School course is ideal for anyone interested in developing their creativity and drawing skills. We cover many aspects of illustration, such as character design and picture books. If students have some basic drawing and painting experience, that’s great, but it’s not essential!
About the course
Our Illustration Summer School course equips aspiring illustrators with a deeper understanding of illustration and essential professional techniques.
You will develop specialized illustration skills, master fundamental concepts, and receive ongoing tutor support.
You will be able to share and refine your artwork in a supportive and engaging environment.
On the course you will:
- Llearn to craft expressive characters, handle various materials, draw from observation, and understand perspective, composition, and colour theory.
- Apply these basics to enhance visual storytelling in projects like comics and children's books, boosting creativity and technical ability.
- Design expressive characters, acquire key illustration techniques, and develop compelling visual narratives.
- Gain practical tools to improve drawing skills, bring ideas to life, and create impactful illustrations.

Payment is made in full at the time of booking.
If you are booking a Level 3 or 4 Counselling course, you will be able to pay for this using a Direct Debit, which you will set up before the course starts in September. Please check the relevant course pages for details.
