Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators

Maggie was named the East area Level 4 winner, standing out among more than 22,000 students who took part in the competition across the UK. Her translation was selected by a panel of 32 judges, including Oxford Modern Languages undergraduates and leading professional literary translators, from nearly 5,000 submitted entries.

The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators was launched in 2020 by The Queen’s College Translation Exchange. Inspired by the life and work of the renowned translator Anthea Bell, the initiative encourages young people to develop their language skills and creativity through translation. The competition aims to promote language learning and inspire greater engagement with modern foreign languages in schools and colleges across the UK.

Maggie’s achievement reflects both her dedication to language learning and the strength of language studies at Hills Road. We congratulate Maggie on this impressive success and look forward to seeing where her passion for languages takes her next.
