Hills student becomes UK AstraZeneca president for a day!

Y13 student Lanna Freeman took on the role of AstraZeneca's UK president for a day on 11 October! This was a unique initiative to mark International Day of the Girl by Plan International, a global children's rights and equality for girls' charity that worked with AstraZeneca to promote inclusion and draw attention to the obstacles young women face in the UK.

The charity partnered with AstraZeneca to select five young women to experience a senior executive's role for a day at the company's sites in Cambridge, Luton and Macclesfield. Lanna was given the opportunity to become the president at the AstraZeneca UK Marketing Company in Luton.

My favourite part of the day was taking part in a senior leadership team meeting. I got to ask questions about how the team runs such an important organisation and how they approached important issues such as gender inequality in the workplace, workers' mental health, and sustainability. I really enjoyed seeing how they managed their lives, and I found their jobs fascinating
