Students succeed at AoC National Championships

Congratulations to all of our students who participated in The Association of Colleges Sport National Championships 2024 competition!

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated!

The Association of Colleges Sport National Championships 2024 competition took place from the 19 to 21 of April at the University of Nottingham and other local facilities.

The competition has now entered its 44th year and is a celebration of competitive sport in colleges. AoC is the largest annual FE student sporting event in Europe, with over 1,500 college students taking part each year! Hills Road regularly has the largest group of qualifying students from any College nationally.

The competition sees college teams and individual competitors qualifying to represent their region at the Championships through regional tournaments hosted throughout the academic year.

This year, events took place across 12 different sports, including indoor cricket, 7-a-side football and volleyball. Hills Road students represent the Eastern region, sometimes as complete teams of Hills Roaders and sometimes as individuals as part of the wider Eastern region teams. Whatever sport they were contributing to, our athletes showcased true determination and skill across multiple sports.

Through sheer perseverance and dedication, the College emerged as national champions in the men’s volleyball competition this year with our women’s volleyball team exhibiting similarly exceptional prowess to secure a silver championship medal.

Congratulations to all of those who participated in this highly competitive event. You have done yourself and your college proud!

These achievements stand as a testament to the hard work and talent within our college community. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the participants, coaches, and supporters who contributed to our success.
