The principal objective of this course is to enable you to improve on your Biology grade from the summer and to help you achieve the grade you need for your chosen University course or career. This course is available to students who took Biology A level in June 2019 through any of the accredited examination boards (OCR, Edexcel, AQA, CIE, WJEC).
You will follow the specification for OCR Syllabus A. Consideration will be given to covering the specific parts of the syllabus not covered by other exam boards.

You will be given a handbook at the start of the course which will cover the detailed specification, mathematical skills, practical skills and examples of each of the exam papers on the OCR syllabus.
Practical skills knowledge is very important as 25% of the total questions in the exams will be based on practical work. This will cover planning, implementation, analysis and evaluation and is common to all exam boards. You will be asked to provide a list of practicals you carried out during your Biology A level studies prior to starting the course so that your level of practical knowledge and experience can be used in the planning of the lessons. The lessons will be largely theory-based with emphasis on exam skills and application of knowledge.
Please note that the grade you receive on this course will be your final grade even if this is lower than your original.
It is assumed that you have achieved the practical endorsement component of the A level. This is transferrable across exam boards.
