Y12 student wins the Sir Michael Marshall Lecture Competition 2024

Congratulations to A Y12 student for winning the 18 and under category for this prestigious competition.

Congratulations!

As always, Hills Road students have done themselves and the College proud in this year's Sir Michael Marshall Lecture competition.

The competition aims to inspire future generations by encouraging them to engage with Aeronautics and facilitate a personal development opportunity for those within the profession.

Student delivered their presentations exceptionally well, overcame any initial nerves and displayed an incredible depth of knowledge on their chosen subjects. They dealt with the pressure of both expert judges and the audience, asking them tricky questions, which was fantastic to see.

A Y12 student who studies Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths, gave a lecture titled “Optimising paper aeroplanes”. They impressed the judges with their presentation and speaking skills and have taken home £100 for their brilliant efforts! Well done, this is such a wonderful achievement!

It was also lovely to see Nathan Westwick, a Y13 student at Hills Road and last year's winner of the Sir Michael Marshall Lecture Competition, in the audience.
