Hills Road celebrates success at the SFCA Awards 2026

Hills Road won the 2026 Climate Action Award for excellence in sustainability, and was runner-up in Health and Wellbeing for the College's staff coaching programme.

Hills Road Sixth Form College is celebrating national recognition at the SFCA Awards 2026, having won the Climate Action Award and been named runner-up in the Health and Wellbeing category.

The Sixth Form College Association (SFCA) annual awards celebrate excellent practice, significant achievements and exceptional commitment across the sixth form college sector. This year's awards ceremony took place at the SFCA Summer Conference on Wednesday 17 June.

The 2026 Climate Action award was awarded to Hills Road Sixth Form College in recognition of the College's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, with Sustainability Lead Chris Graham (left) representing Hills Road to accept the award.

In a second success, Hills Road was awarded second place in the Health and Wellbeing category for its internal staff coaching programme. The programme supports colleagues' professional development and wellbeing, helping to foster a positive and supportive working environment across the College. Vicky Williamson, Director of SEND and co-ordinator of the staff coaching programme attended the ceremony in recognition of the coaching programme nomination.

Representing Hills Road at the awards along with Vicky and Chris were Principal Jo Trump, Deputy Principal Ian Pryer, and Vice Principals Ali Kirkman (Staff and Student Learning) and Tim Lomas (Student Progression and Support) .

Jo said: "We are delighted to receive this national recognition. Winning the Climate Action Award and being named runner-up for our staff coaching programme reflects the commitment, expertise and ambition of colleagues across the College. I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved."

The SFCA Awards provide an opportunity for sixth form colleges across the country to celebrate innovation, impact and excellence.  Hills Road's success reflects the dedication of colleagues across the College and its continued commitment to supporting both people and planet.

"This award recognises the collective efforts of staff and students who are committed to making sustainability a core part of life at Hills Road. It is encouraging to see that work recognised nationally."
