Thank you, Eppendorf!

Hills Road Biology department is delighted to once again benefit from a donation of specialist laboratory equipment from leading life sciences company, Eppendorf.

Building on their generous contribution last academic year, Eppendorf have kindly donated further equipment such as a refrigerated centrifuge, multiple micropipettes and a range of laboratory accessories.

The new equipment will provide Biology A level students with further opportunities to develop practical laboratory skills using industry-standard technology.

The refrigerated centrifuge will allow students to extract temperature-sensitive DNA and RNA in enrichment sessions and year 13 biology practicals. The micropipettes will enable students to accurately measure and transfer very small volumes of liquid, an essential skill used for DNA analysis, gel electrophoresis and other molecular biology investigations.

Fenella Dansie, Senior Biology Technician at Hills Road, who coordinated the donation, said:

"We are incredibly grateful to Eppendorf for their continued generosity! Having access to this high-quality equipment makes a real difference to the practical experience we can offer our students, helping them develop valuable laboratory skills and gain confidence using equipment found in professional scientific settings."

"We are incredibly grateful to Eppendorf for their continued generosity!"

The College would like to extend its sincere thanks to Eppendorf for their continued support and commitment to enhancing science education at Hills Road.
