A class for students of all abilities with a keen interest in portraiture. Working from life, students are encouraged to work at their own pace with help and advice from the tutor.
The first weeks of the course are tutor led, looking at proportion and measuring and experimentation with different media. The course includes reference to work by professional artists. The last half of the course is designed so that students can work with a model in their chosen media to produce a finished piece.
Ceri Ann Littlechild is an artist specialising in realism and portraits. She likes to work with lots of different media and continues to investigate different stylistic approaches in her work. She has taught a number of private students as well as running group classes in schools and galleries. She believes that teaching art is about sharing skills and techniques but importantly it is about building confidence and allowing individual exploration and expression.
·Materials needed for the first session: Charcoal pencil, a sharpener, eraser and A3 or A2 paper and a drawing board or support. Details of further materials for the rest of the course will be provided by the tutor.
