Spanish Beginners Level 2

This course is suitable for those who have already studied Spanish for one term.

 

The course is based on a communicative approach and aims to develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the foreign language. It aims to enable students to understand and use Spanish effectively for purposes of practical communication, to develop some understanding of grammar and to offer insights into the culture of Spanish speaking countries.

 

This course feeds into Beginners level 3 in the next term.

Learning Outcomes

 By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to learn the Spanish for the following:

  • Booking into a hotel
  • Talking about dates
  • Making complaints
  • Asking for and giving directions and ocating places
  • Describing someone´s appearance and clothes
  • Describing and comparing homes. Renting accommodation
  • Numbers 100-1000
  • Expressing likes and dislikes
  • Time and daily routine
  • Expressing frequency
  • Describing personalities

You will have learnt some basic grammar, in particular:

  • Prepositions
  • Use of 'hay' and 'está'
  • Comparatives
  • Interrogatives “cuánto/a/os/as”
  • Impersonal verbs: “gustar”, “interesar”, “encantar”
  • The present tense
  • Stem changing verbs
  • Reflexive verbs in the present tense
  • Adverbs of sequence and frequency
  • Gender and number of adjectives

 

Your Tutor

Luis Silva Luis Ernesto Silva is a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. He is an experienced Spanish teacher at all levels, with over 12 years teaching experience and completed his CELTA (Cambridge Certificate of Teaching English to Adults) qualification in 2001. He has worked developing Spanish language exams for OCR and has also been a Spanish examiner for different examining boards.
