Painting for Beginners

The Painting for Beginners course will teach you how to paint from the ground up. You will explore a variety of painting techniques and theories from historic and contemporary artists.

    About the course

    Each week, during the Painting for Beginners course, a different technical approach to painting and drawing will be explored. You will also learn about various historical and contemporary artists to keep you inspired and to gain a greater understanding of where certain techniques originated from.

    This class is suitable for anyone of any skill level. If you have taken this class before, or are an experienced painter, then your tutor will tailor each class to suit your needs and skill level.

    You’ll cover a wide array of material throughout this course, including learning how to

    • Gesture drawing and mark-making
    • Mix colour
    • Paint and wax resist
    • How to paint a portrait
    • Paint with ink, or quink and bleach
    • Think about negative space and creating compositions
    • Use collage to create a surface

    Payment is made in full at the time of booking.
