Our Art and Design course presents students with exciting and challenging opportunities to learn much more about what it means to be a creative and imaginative visual artist, and to grow in this way throughout the course. We always find that our students bring a great variety of experiences and different backgrounds to their learning in this area, and we welcome this. Our course is designed to build on the skills and enthusiasm you bring. - • Excellent facilities - the purpose-built Art and Design Centre was opened by Zandra Rhodes in 1998
- • Nine studios, which are organised to support a wide range of specialist study; including painting, drawing, mixed-media, collage, digital graphics, photography, animation, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and history of art.
“A huge part of why art and design is so enjoyable is the teaching, as well as having a relaxed and supportive class atmosphere I felt I had just the right amount of freedom and direction from the teachers… the advice and knowledge I had access to whilst considering university and further education choices was also incredibly useful.”
Peony Gent
“One of the greatest things about art at Hills is the flexibility the department offers… I’ve been encouraged to try new processes and materials such as glass, plaster, cement, casting, painting, Photoshop, mixed media; the list is extensive!”
Issy Spence
