Hills Road Chemistry Olympiad Students Success
Each year a number of Hills Road students voluntarily enter the UK Chemistry Olympiad, which is a leading chemistry competition for students in secondary education. The competition involves three stages, starting with a written test and ending with four students being picked to represent the UK at the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICO)!
This year 60 Hills Road Chemistry students entered the competition with two students achieving the Gold award, 17 achieved Silver and 9 students received Bronze awards.
One of the students, Zixiao Hu, won Gold and also scored highly enough to get through to the second (national) round, which is for the top 30 students nationally. This involved a weekend of lectures and activities at St Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge to select the final four students who will represent the UK at the ICO in July.
