Spanish Debating Success for Hills Road Students

Congratulations to Year 13 Hills Road students Dot Foster and Scarlet Healy for winning the Eastern Region Schools Spanish Debating Competition held at the Perse School on 5 February.
Six A level Spanish students from Hills Road took part in the competition which included interesting and challenging motions such as
• The future of the UK without Europe
• The right for women to have children
• Should the UK be obliged to accommodate all the refugees?
Hills Road Spanish teacher Dolores Gutierrez said “With eager, solid arguments and an ‘español fluido’ four Hills Road students, Dot Foster Scarlet Healy, Olivia Blyndestein and Ionna Fokas managed to pass all the stages of the debate to reach the final.”
“In the final, after a very close competition, judges tipped the scales in favour of Scarlet Healy and Dot Foster ¡Felicidades Campeonas!”
