Choosing your AS level subjects
Choosing your AS level subjects can be a daunting prospect,
not least because there are so many to choose from. Whatever final decision, you need to have
considered the following:
- what subjects you enjoy
- what subjects you are good at
- the career implications of your choice
- your predicted grades; do they qualify you to study that subject?
Support and advice will be available when you are making your choice during the College Open Evenings
(in November) and, if you are invited for interview, during a guidance discussion in the spring term.
The Extended Curriculum
Your AS level subjects form the basis of your course here; however you will be involved in the Extended Curriculum as well.
The Extended Curriculum is our term for all those elements of the Hills Road experience that happen alongside your core academic
courses and that, together, combine to make your time here particularly memorable. The Extended Curriculum embraces our wealth of
enrichment opportunities as well as our huge range of student run clubs and societies that make up our College community. Every
Year 12 student is required to sign up for at least one enrichment activity in their first year, and many engage in much more.
Our Extended Curriculum is designed to extend and develop both you as a learner and the nature of the learning that you experience
here, in the hope and expectation that we can send you out into the world as capable, resourceful, and enquiring 21st century
citizens with a global conscience.
