Ceramics (TH)

This is a practical course and you will learn how to pinch, coil, press-mould, slab-build, model and decorate clays, so you can make beautiful and useful items. We use earthen and stoneware clays, so you can make anything from slip decorated bowls and tiles to frost proof garden sculpture. Students will be encouraged to explore and develop their ideas in a friendly and relaxed environment. We also have electric wheels in the pottery room. This course is suitable for beginners and the more experienced.  

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course you will have been given the opportunity to:   ·You will gain skills and confidence working with clay. ·Develop an understanding of the potential and limitations of the medium. ·Find and develop the techniques that best suit you.  

Your Tutor

Helen Humphreys is a professional potter and has taught evening classes since 2002. She is a selected member of Anglian Potters and a member of Cambridge Open Studios. Her work sells internationally through exhibitions and shows.
