Adobe InDesign Taster
Adobe InDesign is regarded as the industry standard page layout programme and minimum skill requirement for anyone wishing to seek a career in the creative industries.
This one morning taster session will explore what are be achieved using Adobe InDesign, typically business cards, stationery, menus, posters, adverts, newsletters, magazines, business proposals, guides, ebooks and much more.
During the morning we will create a poster together using Adobe InDesign Creative Cloud (CC).
Note this taster session requires no prior knowledge of Adobe InDesign however good computer skills are necessary.
Having completed this taster lesson you may wish to consider enrolling on our course entitled ‘Desktop publishing using Adobe InDesign & Photoshop’.
By the end of the taster session you will have learnt the basics of:
How to a create a document, exploring the programmes tools and interface.
How to apply some basic design principles when creating a document.
How to add text, format text and wrap text around images or graphic elements.
How to import images in to your document, re-size them, change opacity and image orientation.
How to apply colour to text and graphics.
How to save your document either for print or web.
How to ‘package’ a document to create an archive.
Caroline Duffy is formally trained in graphic design and has extensive industry experience working as a designer for a number of London agencies and their clients, including Balfour Beatty, UBS Bank, AstraZeneca, Novo Nordisk and GlaxoSmithKline. In Cambridge she has worked for Addenbrooke’s NHS Hospital / Rosie Hospital /ACT. For the past 10 years she has combined her professional practice with lecturing, specialising in the teaching of computer programmes and graphics including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. She has taught the Kingston University’s FdA Graphic Communications course; Cambridge Regional College’s Print Based Creative Media BTEC course, and has a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education. She also runs a digital software training business.

• Learners are welcome to bring their own laptop should they wish with Adobe InDesign CC installed (but not compulsory) with a mouse, as trackpads do not work well with the drawing tools.
Unfortunately the college does not offer wifi acces to AE Students, but all of the college computers have access.

Please note full refunds can only be made if a class is cancelled or closed at the discretion of the College, or if you cancel your enrolment no less than two weeks before the course starts.
