This practical course is designed to cater for a variety of levels, from beginner to more advanced learners. There will be opportunities to explore a range of hand building techniques and expand their knowledge on the throwing wheel, using stoneware and earthenware clays. The class will experiment with a variety of decorative techniques, which the learner will then be able to develop into their own style.  

Learning Outcomes

The course aims to improve on existing skills in  Ceramic techniques, appropriate to the learners needs. They will experiment with a variety of making and decorating techniques and be able to develop techniques further.  Learners will need to demonstrate Health & Safety and good studio practice whilst using the ceramic department.   By the end of the course you will be able to: ·Work safely and effectively when developing ideas. ·Investigate a variety of traditional and un-traditional techniques. ·Experiment with your own design ideas. ·Explore with different materials, media and techniques to create designs. ·Reflect on your completed pieces.  

Your Tutor

Nicola Ashley trained as a ceramicist and has taught ceramics and art in adult education since graduating in 1998. Nicola is a practising artist, working in her home studio and exhibiting in local galleries and craft fairs.
