Fused Glass Jewellery (Sat AM)

Fused Glass Jewellery (Sat AM)

This Saturday morning course is designed to give you an introduction to working with glass to create fused glass pendants and earrings which we will fire in our kiln for you. It is suitable for beginners or the more experienced glass worker. Students are encouraged to come with some ideas in mind. Total beginners are very welcome and will be guided through various techniques including cutting glass, working with different types of glass including frit, stringers and dichroic and inclusions including copper and mica. Learning through controlled experimentation is encouraged. We offer a focused and friendly environment to expand your knowledge and confidence in working with glass. More advanced students are also welcome and free to work on projects of their own, and are encouraged to ask for help and advice when needed. There will also be a microwave kiln demonstration that offers a low cost alternative to kiln firing that you can use at home.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the two-week course you will have made some pieces you can wear or give to friends and family as gifts. You will have developed a knowledge and understanding of the material and its potential. You will gain a confidence in working with glass and be aware of the best methods that suit you and how you can develop and take this knowledge further.
